Comments: I served aboard Askari from '66 to '67. I was in the deck force when I first went aboard - then got in the ship's office over in Viet Nam. I was onboard when we sliced into the Benewah in Subic Bay.

Comments: My father Leonard A. Dickinson, was a signalman 1st class aboard the Askari in 1945. He passed away on 3-9-09.
Comments: Trying one more time to get this right. I served on Askari from 07/70 to 06/71 in the AC Generator room. I retired from the US Navy after 20 years and Askari was my first ship and I still think of her very fondly.
