Served from Feb 1966 until Sept 1967. On crew that recommissoned her and took her across the Pacfic. Oh man, what a ride. Had alot of good times and had alot of buddies from serving. Have never regretted serving. After the Askari, I served another year in Danang RVN.

I was SH3, ships store operator, and moral petty officer (I showed the crews movies)aboard the Askari from March 1,1970- Feb 28 1971. We had a great crew, I've never seen such hard working group of men. What i recall most was watch duty on the Starlight Scope and the deck patrols keeping a constant lookout for sappers.

Served as SFP3 from 3-69 thru 3-70. At the time I was happy to get off her. I now look back with fond memories. I am proud to have served with the good men of the Askai. The Very Best to you all!!!

I served on the USS Krishna 9/70-9/71 and it appears the site for Krisna went away so I wanted to show my daughter some history of ARLs in Vietnam so she would have a better understanding of my role in country.
