Served on the 'dirty thirty' as Chief Engineer 1969-1970 in the Mekong Delta and got to watch the naval invasion of Cambodia by the Riverine Forces that we supported/repaired. Got to fire all kinds of weapons every day as my room mate was the gunnery officer and the C.O. liked to hear gun fire day and night aimed at stuff in the water 'cause he was concerned that 'Charlie' might float an explosive device down the river to blow us up. I do remember the Beer Barge.
